Starting pitcher Scott Kazmir will be sidelined for a couple of weeks as he has some “stuffiness” in his left elbow.  He felt some discomfirt in the elbow before pitching in a intersquad game and had an MRI done on it that afternoon.

Kazmir says he thinks he will be ready to go in a few weeks, and glad that the injury isn’t too serious.  If there would have been a pop during one of his warmup pitches, he would have more then likely been on disabled list for the entire year.  Definately not what the Rays need.

Scott Kazmir was schedule to pitch during an intersquad game today and he left the game before even throwing a pitch.  He said his elbow felt like it hyperextended, and the Rays want to take every precaution they can with him at this point.

Kazmir is schedule to have an MRI done this afternoon, and hopefully everything will turn out ok for Kazmir and the Rays.  If Kazmir goes on the shelf for any amount of time, it will greatly hurt the Rays chances.

The Tampa Bay Rays have signed relief pitcher Trever Miller to a one year contract worth $1.6 million and a option for 2009 at $2 million dollars.  The Rays got a pretty good deal here as Miller was hoping for a lot more money when he became a free agent.

Last year, Miller played for the Houston Astros and pitched 46.1 innings.  He did give up 45 hits, 26 runs, six homeruns, while compiling a 4.86 ERA.
