Jayson Nix gave the White Sox an unlikely lift. Nix hit his first career grand slam, helping Chicago beat the Tampa Bay Rays 8-5 on Sunday to split a four-game series with the AL East-leaders. "Every time you hit a homer it's a good feeling, but this one was great," said Nix, who went deep on a 3-2 pitch from James Shields.

Struggling slugger Carlos Pena drove in three runs, Wade Davis allowed three runs while pitching into the seventh inning and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Chicago White Sox 8-5 on Saturday night. Pena hit a three-run double during a four-run fourth inning off John Danks (4-4) to put Tampa Bay up 6-2. The other run scored on Gabe Kapler's bunt.

Freddy Garcia outpitched David Price to steer the Chicago White Sox to a 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League on Friday. Garcia (4-3) gave up just two runs and four hits in seven innings. Price (7-2) allowed three runs over seven innings. His only other loss this season also came against the White Sox.
