Former Sen. George Mitchell says Roger Clemens may call him to testify at the upcoming trial on charges the all-star pitcher lied about drug use. Mitchell was hired by Major League Baseball to investigate the use of performance-enhancing drugs in the league. His 2007 report accused Clemens and 85 other former or current players of using those drugs.

Ryan Hanigan hit a three-run homer off James Shields as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in interleague play Wednesday. Hanigan connected with two out in the fourth for his first homer since going deep twice April 3 against Milwaukee. Shields (8-5) had given up just two runs in his previous three starts, all of which were complete-game wins.

Evan Longoria hit a game-ending solo homer in the ninth inning to give the Tampa Bay Rays a 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. Longoria, who has struggled at home this season, sent an 0-1 pitch from Logan Ondrusek (3-3) into the left-field seats for his fifth homer in the last eight games.

Gomes, the former Rays' outfielder playing at Tropicana Field for the first time since becoming a free agent after the 2008 season, hit a solo shot off an overhanging catwalk during a two-run fourth that made it 4-0.

Wilton Lopez and closer Mark Melancon have been two of Houston's best relievers this season. On Sunday things didn't go so well for the pair. Lopez yielded a pair of singles in the eighth inning before Melancon walked B.J. Upton to load the bases and set up Matt Joyce's pinch-hit, go-ahead double that sent the Tampa Bay Rays over the Astros 14-10 for a three-game sweep.

Bud Norris gave up three early runs Saturday night and the Houston Astros couldn't muster enough offense to keep him in the game. Norris (4-6) gave up three runs in the first three innings and finished with six hits and three walks in five innings, but Wade Davis allowed just one run in seven innings as the Tampa Bay Rays beat Houston 7-2.
