Ahhh, what a glorious time to be a fan of the Tampa Bay Rays! We began the week with a 3 game sweep of division rivals Baltimore. We then managed to eek out a series win against the red hot, Josh Hamilton led Texas Rangers. We then capped the week by taking 3 out of 4 games from the AL Central leading Chicago White Sox. This will give us a 10 day record of 8-2 and a spot atop the AL East. Not bad for a team with a penchant for loosing in years past!

Skepticism remains a large part of the talk surrounding the Rays nationally even though they have beaten some of the best teams in MLB, are currently 13 games over .500 and own the best record in the American League. But we, the Rays faithful, know the truth. The truth is the Tampa Bay Rays are just plain good! Let me tell you why:

• Scott Kazmir has posted an ERA of 0.64 in his last 2 starts winning both
• The pitching staff has struck out 65 and walked ONLY 16 in the last week
• Base runners lit up the base path stealing 11 bases and only being caught once
• Every player has contributed – 2 walk-off home runs against one of the best bullpens in MLB
• Our defense is stellar – only 2 errors committed all last week

The Tampa Bay Rays are playing solid, fundamental baseball on all sides. They are clearly a group that wants to win, they are hungry. With that in mind there is no reason they shouldn’t walk away from Fenway still atop the AL East!

So, for all you fans out there trying to decide who you should cheer for – jump on our bandwagon quick, it’s filling fast!!!!
